Record what you produce. Never run short.
Two halves of the same question: what came off the place this week, and what do you need to buy before it doesn't.
Your production types, not ours
No software can guess what your place makes. So you define the types: eggs by the dozen, milk by the gallon, honey by the pound, tomatoes by the bushel — each with a unit and a per-unit value. Log a quantity and the value is worked out for you, every time, without anyone reaching for a calculator.
Over a season that turns into the number most operations never actually have: what the place produced, and what it was worth. Not an estimate — the sum of what you wrote down on the days you did the work.
Production can flow straight into stock
A production type can be pointed at an inventory item, so what you harvest lands in stock automatically. Two hundred pounds of honey becomes two hundred pounds you have on hand. The adjustment is delta-safe, so correcting yesterday's entry corrects the stock level too rather than double-counting it.
Reorder points that speak up first
Every inventory item carries an on-hand level, a reorder point, an average cost, and where it's kept — the feed room, the med fridge, the fuel tank. The moment something dips below its reorder point it gets a low-stock badge and joins the dashboard's Attention Needed feed.
- ⚠️Low-stock alerts for feed, medication, supplies and fuel.
- 💲Average cost per item, so the ledger and the feed room agree.
- 📍Locations — hay barn, med fridge, fuel tank — so a count is findable.
- 🧾An audit trail on every adjustment: what changed, by how much, and when.
The audit trail matters more than it sounds. When the count is wrong — and eventually it is — the question is always "who moved what". A running history answers it in a few seconds instead of an argument.
