Run your whole operation from one place.
Land & Herd keeps your livestock, tasks, production, inventory, pastures, and finances together in one calm, farm-native app — instead of five spreadsheets, a whiteboard, and a notebook in the truck.
Free while we're in beta · no credit card · runs in any browser · set up your ranch in a couple of minutes
Built for the whole operation, not just the herd
From the first calf of the season to the year-end books — every part of the place has a home here, and they all talk to each other.
Every animal, individually tracked
Tag, name, breed, birth date, classification, group, and location for cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and rabbits — plus an "other" catch-all. Searchable, filterable, and viewable as a table, grid, or list.
- 🌿Herds & flocks. Group animals and move whole groups between pastures at once.
- 🔎Quick filters for withdrawals, health issues, recently moved, sold, and deceased.
- 🌳Ancestry built in — dam, sire, and offspring linked across your herd.
Due dates and withdrawals, handled for you
Log a pairing and Land & Herd computes the due date from per-species gestation. Track heat cycles, pregnancy checks, and births — then keep every animal healthy with issues, medications, and metrics.
- 📅Auto due dates for pairings, with Pregnant / Due Soon / Open at a glance.
- 💊Withdrawal tracking so treated animals never slip into the sale barn early.
- 📈Metrics & checks — weights, FAMACHA scores, feed conversion, parasite checks.
Nothing falls through the cracks
Keep the whole to-do list in one feed — categorized, assigned, and dated. Recurring chores respawn the moment you check them off, and overdue work is impossible to miss.
- 🏷️Categories for vet, fence, feed, equipment, and general work.
- 👥Assign to anyone on the ranch and filter by pending, due today, or overdue.
- 🔁Recurring tasks — daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, or yearly — spawn the next occurrence automatically.
Record what you produce. Never run short.
Define your own production types — eggs, milk, honey, whatever you sell — with a unit and a value, and log them daily. Supplies track on-hand levels against reorder points, with a full audit trail on every adjustment.
- 💲Value as you go — every entry is priced by its per-unit value automatically.
- ⚠️Low-stock alerts the moment feed, meds, or supplies dip below reorder.
- 🔗Production → inventory flow so what you harvest lands in stock, delta-safe.
Rotate on rest, not on guesswork
Give each pasture a rest period and Land & Herd counts down the days. See at a glance what's ready to graze, what's still resting, and log a "graze today" with a single tap.
- ⏳Ready-to-graze countdown with 30 / 45 / 60 / 90-day rest presets.
- 🔔Ready alerts surface on the dashboard so grass never gets away from you.
Know where the money went
A simple income-and-expense ledger built for a working operation. Categorize every entry, and see totals, net, and this month's figures the instant you open the page.
- 📊Live totals — income, expenses, net, and month-to-date up top.
- 🗂️Categories for livestock, feed, fuel, vet, equipment, and more.
Depth where it counts, calm everywhere else
Land & Herd covers a real working operation end to end — and turns off the parts you don't use, so the sidebar only ever shows what matters to you.
However you run your place
The same records, arranged around whatever you actually keep.
Cattle ranches
Calving records with due dates from a 283-day gestation, withdrawal tracking that keeps treated cattle out of the sale barn, and pasture rotation built on rest days.
For cattle ranches →Goat & sheep farms
FAMACHA scores and parasite checks alongside kidding and lambing dates, flock-level moves, and milk logged by the gallon with its value already worked out.
For goat & sheep farms →Homesteads
A few of everything — chickens, a milk cow, the garden, the tractor — without a sidebar full of modules you'll never open. Switch off what you don't run.
For homesteads →Every module, in a sentence
Six modules every ranch gets. Seven more you switch on — or off — from Settings → Modules, so the sidebar only ever shows what you actually run.
Always on
Dashboard
Your place at a glance: head count, this week's production, open tasks, low stock, local weather, and an Attention Needed feed that surfaces overdue work, pastures coming ready, and animals still under withdrawal.
Tasks
Chores, reminders, and to-dos in one feed — categorized, dated, assigned to a person, and repeatable daily through yearly. Overdue work sits at the top where you can't scroll past it.
Production
Eggs, milk, honey, produce — define your own types with a unit and a per-unit value, then log them daily. Every entry is priced automatically, and a type can drop what you harvest straight into inventory.
Inventory
Feed, medication, supplies, and fuel with on-hand levels, reorder points, average cost, and where it's stored. Low-stock badges the moment something dips, plus an audit trail on every adjustment.
Daily Log
A dated journal of what actually happened on the place — written by whoever was there, kept in one running feed you can scroll back through months later.
Spreadsheet Import
Upload the spreadsheet you're already keeping and an AI-assisted preview maps your columns onto animals, tasks, inventory, and more. You review the plan — and can talk it through in a chat — before a single row is written.
Livestock & herd optional — on by default
Livestock
Individually tracked animals across eight species, with tag, name, breed, birth date, sex classification, herd, and pasture. Search, quick filters, table/grid/list views, and a full detail page per head with ancestry.
Breeding
Natural or AI pairings with due dates computed from per-species gestation, plus heat cycles, pregnancy checks, births, and offspring counts — and per-species gestation you can tune yourself.
Health
Issues with severity and status, a medication log with withdrawal tracking, quick check-ins, batch treatment for a whole group, and metrics like weight, FAMACHA score, and feed conversion.
Switch on what you run Settings → Modules
Pastures
Rotational grazing built on rest periods: set 30, 45, 60, or 90 days, log a "graze today", and watch the countdown to ready. Pastures that come ready show up on the dashboard.
Crops
Planting through harvest — name, variety, location, status, planted and expected harvest dates, and the yield you actually got when it's in the barn.
Equipment
Machinery with make, model, year, purchase price, and hours, plus a maintenance log that tracks what's been serviced and what's due next.
Finances
An income-and-expense ledger for a working operation. Categorize each entry and see totals, net, and month-to-date the moment the page opens.
Staff
Add your crew with owner, manager, and worker roles. Generate an invite link, share it however you like, and they join your ranch when they sign up.
AI Assistant
Ask about your place in plain English — "who's due to calve this month?" — and log work by chatting. Anything that writes to your records is proposed first and waits for your confirmation. Off with one toggle.
Real screens, real data
Every screenshot on this site is the real app, captured from a fully worked demo ranch — nothing mocked up, nothing painted in.

Only as big as your place
-
🧰
Only the modules you run
Don't grow crops? Don't run equipment? Switch them off in Settings and they leave the sidebar entirely. Seven modules toggle; the rest are the basics every operation needs.

Weather with zero setup
Set a ZIP code (or lat/long) and the dashboard shows your local conditions and the day's high and low — no API keys, no third-party accounts to wire up.

Your crew, with the right access
Owner, manager, and worker roles, and multiple ranches under one login with a switcher in the sidebar. Share an invite link and they're in.
Works from the barn, the truck, or the couch
Land & Herd is built to be used one-handed with a phone in the other. Every screen is responsive, so the web app works on a phone or tablet with nothing to install — pin it to your home screen and it opens like an app.

Land & Herd is still being built, and it's free to use while that's true. No credit card, no trial clock counting down in the corner — and when the beta ends, plans start at $10 a month with a free tier that stays free.
Everything below, for as long as the beta runs.
- Every module — livestock, breeding, health, tasks, production, inventory, pastures, crops, equipment, finances, staff, daily log, and the assistant
- All eight species, with their own breeds and classifications
- Your whole crew, with owner, manager, and worker roles
- More than one ranch under a single login
- AI-assisted spreadsheet import of the records you already keep
- The web app on any device, plus the mobile app while it's in early access
Straight answers
What does it cost?
Nothing while we're in beta — every module, no credit card, no trial countdown. When that ends, plans run from a permanently free tier through $10, $29 and $79 a month, and the pricing page lays out every rung along with what we're committing to on the way there.
Can I bring the spreadsheet I already keep?
Yes. Upload it and an AI-assisted preview maps your columns onto animals, tasks, inventory and more. You review the whole plan — and can talk it through in a chat — before a single row is written. How import works →
What animals can I track?
Cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and rabbits each get their own breeds, classifications and gestation lengths, and there's an "other" catch-all for anything else you keep.
Is there a mobile app?
The web app is fully responsive and pins to your home screen like an app, so it works on a phone today with nothing to install. Native iOS and Android apps are in early access, covering sign-in, ranch setup, joining by invite and the dashboard so far. The honest state of mobile →
Do I have to use the parts I don't need?
No. Seven modules switch off entirely from Settings → Modules, and when they're off they leave the sidebar too. A homestead with chickens and a garden doesn't have to look at an equipment maintenance log.
Can I get my data back out?
A one-click export isn't built yet — we'd rather say so than imply a button that doesn't exist. It's on the list. In the meantime, email [email protected] and we'll get you your records.
